Messages on hold: Do they work?
There are several elements that go into messages on hold, including script, recording studio, voice talent, background music, mixing, the on hold equipment that plays the recording, and if the messages on hold are up to date. The one factor that’s most important is the script. We’ve all heard messages on hold that were worthless: they may have been generic mass produced hold messages, they may be “customized” with the name of the company you were calling, or they may have given “the basics” (company name, a list of the products they wanted to sell you, and a few clichés like “Quality is Job 1”). The only messages on hold that do more than take up a caller’s time are custom planned and written for your company, starting with your customer mind.
How do I know if my messages on hold are good?
There are some simple ways to evaluate your messages on hold. First, you can do it yourself. Call your company and ask to be placed on hold. Are they playing? Is the audio quality good? Do the messages talk about ideas that are important to your customers? Do callers respond to them? If you answered any question “no,” call our service department and we’ll help you, even if you didn’t get your messages from The Informer.
We’ll check your messages on hold for you.
The second way is to let us send you a free “First Glance Analysis” of your messages on hold.
