Messages on hold not playing ?
Don’t feel bad. It’s not surprising. It’s nothing new. Messages on hold not playing is a common enough occurrence. Why? Because “out of sight is out of mind.” You don’t usually call yourself. And your supplier probably never checks for you. (We check the quality of our clients’ recordings every 3 months, and often more frequently).
What to do when your messages on hold not playing
When someone tells you about messages on hold not playing, it’s usually a simple problem to fix. By far, the #1 problem is that someone needed to plug something in, and just unplugged your messages on hold player. Its probably located in the same room that has your phone system in it. The phone system is a box on the wall with lots of wires coming out of it.
It probably has the same brand name as is on the phone on your desk: AT&T, Avaya, Toshiba, Panasonic, etc. Just find the plug and they should start playing within a few minutes.
What if it’s something more complicated? Then there are a few questions to ask. What kind of phone system do you have? A PBX? VoIP phones? Different kinds of systems play messages on hold differently. Messages on hold not playing could be due to a player problem, or a phone system problem.
Messages on hold not playing on a PBX
If you have a PBX, you usually have a separate on hold player that’s plugged into the system with an audio cable. Make sure that the audio cable is securely plugged into both the player and the phone system. Make sure the “play” light is lit on the player. Try the “internal speaker” to see if you can hear the messages playing from the player. If you can, and if the player is attached to the phone system, it might be time to call for help.
You have two choices: you can call your phone installer (who will probably charge for customer service unless you have a service agreement) or you can call our tech support team (it’s free) to diagnose the problem. If its more than messages on hold not playing, if they don’t work for you, we have more answers for you.
