It’s already the end of September. Have you figured out how to sell more this year than you did last year? The economy may be improving, but you’ve probably already noticed new competitors on the scene, price cutting is rampant, and many customers are slow to open their wallets. So how are you going to sell more this year?
There are lots of ideas about how to sell more
Luckily there are almost as may answers to the question as there are businesses, so everyone can figure out how to sell more in a way that works for them. Some of the most popular ideas are:
- You can read the classic by Napoleon Hill or Dale Carnegie.
- You can get a more modern approach from books by Ken Blanchard or Seth Godin.
- You can update your website and start blogging.
- Network online with LinkedIn
- Attract new customers with social media like Facebook. One good example of B2C Facebook page is from Coca-Cola
- Keep your “raving fans” informed with hourly tweets
- Network in person with your local Chamber of Commerce
- Get more referrals by joining a BNI group
- Take courses in how to sell more offer by the Sandler System
- Get creative: use cuddly looking animals in your advertising to attract attention (I don’t recommend this one!)
- Have a conversation with your customers. Every sale more that involves more than buying a bottle of water starts with a conversation. Come to think of it, bottled water companies know how to sell more, too: even buying water involves starting a conversation (though it may be internal)
- Identify your customers needs, their problems, and their desires. We call them the customer’s “Hot Buttons”
- Offer a test drive. It’s one of the most effective ways to sell used cars. If it works for them, it can probably work for anybody.
- Figure out how to use strong visuals on Pinterest
- Have a strong brand promise: what do you stand for? If it matches with #12, and people know you for that, they’ll want your help.
- Make sure that everyone knows how you help them. Then make sure again.
